EQTEC   modules are composed of an Otto cycle internal combustion engine which drives an alternator, generating electricity while also generating residual heat, in the form of exhaust gases and hot water for cooling the engine itself. This residual heat is harnessed for the generation of hot water or even cold water for cooling and air conditioning systems. Fuels that can be used in micro-cogeneration EQTEC modules are natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG) or biogas.

Operation mode

EQTEC micro-cogeneration modules can work in synchronization with the grid or in auto-consumption or island mode, functioning as an emergency power generator set. The protection, control and synchronization panel is programmed to work at full load or variable load levels depending on the heat demand. Plant uptime  per annum is estimated to be 8,200 hours.
